Role of "Influencers" Questioned; Friends' Recommendations Drive Purchases

Social media users report taking product recommendations more seriously if the recommendation comes from their circle of close friends or family, reports Canadian polling firm Pollara. According to the Pollara exec quoted in this Online Media Daily story, "marketers may have to reconsider who the real influencers are out there." [Hat tip: Techmeme.]
